Music and Arts Education Advocacy

These pages are intended to help generate awareness about the current state of music and arts education within the YMM community. As many of you know, music education has endured unprecedented cuts to funding in many parts of Monterey County (and throughout California) related to the state's fiscal deficits and the implementation of No Child Left Behind, which has resulted in the depletion or elimination of music education programs in many of our community's public schools. The following links will help you keep up-to-date on this critical situation, as well as provide you with various ways to contribute to the fight to restore and preserve this extremely valuable educational avenue for generations of Monterey County residents.

Arts Council for Monterey County

The Arts Council provides arts education to thousands of students each year thanks to support from local PTAs, foundations, businesses and individuals. We provide promotional, technical and financial support to over fifty arts organizations thanks to funding from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors and a grant from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
