Chamber Players
Erica Horn, Chamber Music Director

The YMMC Chamber Players program (est. 2010) is committed to providing a professional model of music making for motivated young musicians. Wishing to instill a sense of personal responsibility, community, and appreciation for audiences and supporters, the Chamber Players are committed to bringing performances into the community, collaborating with other organizations, and giving back.

Each season the Chamber Players participate in two or more masterclasses with nationally and internationally renowned guest artist. Past artists have included the Juilliard String Quartet, Van Cliburn Piano competition winner Jon Nakamatsu, and many others. The Chamber Players travel to public schools in south Monterey county, enhancing YMMC’s South County Strings Program.  Additionally they perform annually for retirement communities in order to bring music to people who may find it challenging to travel to attend a concert.

Members of the YMMC Orchestras, Vocalists, Alumni and Pianists are invited to participate.

All students enrolled in YMMC orchestras are eligible to audition for the Chamber Players. Auditions are held once each year in May.  Please contact the office for more details.
