OITS!

​YMM's OITS! is an afterschool instrumental program offering high-quality musical instruction for beginner to intermediate level students. Students receive weekly lessons from professional musicians from the Monterey area. No experience or auditions are necessary. Beginners are welcome and encouraged!

Program Details

• Available to students grades 3-8 attending Charter, Public, Private or Home-School.

  • Younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

• Open to beginner and intermediate students.

  • Beginners are welcome and encouraged!​

• Each student receives a minimum of 27 sessions through the school year.

• Students perform in our Winter Concert in December and our Spring Concert in May and have additional performance opportunities throughout the year.

• Upper Strings - Violin, Viola

• Lower Strings - Cello, Bass

• Woodwinds - Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone

• Brass - Trumpet, Horn, Trombone

• Percussion - Snare Drum, Drum Pad, Bells, Bass Drum

• Mondays - YMM Office (546 Hartnell St, Suite D, Monterey)​

  • Beginning Strings: 4:00-5:00 pm​

  • Intermediate Strings: 5:00-6:00 pm

• Tuesdays - Monterey Bay Charter School (1004 David St, Pacific Grove)

  • Beginning Strings, Beginning Cello, Beginning Band: 4:00-5:00 pm

  • Intermediate Strings, Intermediate Cello, Intermediate Band: 5:00-6:00 pm

  • Introduction to Orchestra: 4:00-5:30 pm

Cost

• The cost is $725.00 for the entire school year of instruction, approximately $22 per sesssion.

• Instrument loans at no cost for registered students with $50 non-refundable deposit which goes towards instrument upkeep.

• Tuition Assistance is available for qualified applicants.​

• Beginning Strings and Cello use Sound Innovations Book I.

• Intermediate Strings and Cello use Sound Innovations Book II.

• Beginning Band uses Standard of Excellence Book I.

• Intermediate Band uses Standard of Excellence Book II.

 

For all books and instrument accessories, please consider purchasing at Bookmark Music in Pacific Grove (307 Forest Ave, Pacific Grove). Bookmark Music is knowledgeable about all OITS! programming and will be able to help for each instrument's needs for classes.
