Hello YMM Families and Educators,
I hope the summer has been fun and restorative for all of you. We are looking forward to making great music with you again!
We’ve been very busy interviewing music director candidates (more information on that soon), merging with Orchestra in the Schools, and finalizing the calendar for the year. Soon, you’ll receive a postcard with important dates for the season to save but in the meantime, here some immediate dates for you as well as a prompt to register for JYO or the Honors orchestra. If you know of a student interested in joining our program, please forward this information to them and/or have them contact me for an audition time.

STEP ONE: Please register for either JYO or Honors Orchestra. The form has been shortened and streamlined, hope you like it! Even if you are auditioning to move up from JYO to Honors, it’s helpful to have your registration in order before August 16th. We can change the orchestra after the audition. https://www.youthmusicmonterey.org/register
If your child is interested in joining a chamber ensemble, please be sure to indicate that on the reg form – Chamber Players (strings), Brass, and Woodwind Ensembles.
STEP TWO: Live Auditions are Wednesday, August 16th, from 4-8 pm at Hidden Valley. If you are staying in the same orchestra or section of the orchestra, there is no need to audition again. If you wish to move up to the Honors orchestra or move from Violin 2 to Violin 1 in either orchestra, you will need to audition. STEP THREE: First Rehearsal is Wednesday, August 23rd. JYO 4:30-6:00 and Honors 6:30-8:30 at Hidden Valley
ALSO -- Welcome Back BBQ is Sunday, September 17th from 2-5 pm at Hidden Valley. More about that soon but hope you and the entire family can join us for a few fun hours of eating, meeting new families, and merriment!
